Oil Spill in Ho Chi Minh City, VIETNAM

The Liberian tanker Kasco Monrovia which carried more than 23,000 tonnes of diesel oil, collied with a wharf while entering Sai Gon Petro oil jetty on Friday 21 January, spilling tonnes of oil into the Dong Nai river.

Mr. Hoang Van Loc, Director of Dai Minh Oil Spill Rescue Company said his rescue vessels have recoved more than 40 tonnes of spilled oil.

Recovery equipment has been FOILEX TDS Skimmer and Mini Skimmer together with a Circus, Flexi fence booms and oil absorbents booms.


The tanker will be detained until all compensation for damages caused by oil spill incident has been caculated and the insurer of Kasco has sent surveyors to Vietnam to assess the ship and cargo damage.
