Bad Weather Haunts the Erika Spill Response
Recent hurricane force weather have swept across France causing a delay
to all off-shore oil recovery operations for several days.
Conditions onboard the various response vessels have been difficult for
the crews to master.
The crew of the French Navy vessel L'Ailette have thus
concentrated their activities on off-loading the response vessels from the
recovered oil.
For this purpose the TDS 200 Skimmers have been stripped from their floatation
frames and used as Off-loading Pumps.
The 250.000cSt oil is pumped from the tanks at 30 m length and at 22 m height
after preheating the oil approx. 10° C.
